Too Much Celeb-Bashing
Celebrities are always fun to talk about – what they’re wearing, where they hang out, who they hang out with…knowing about all these little things about celebrities and their lifestyles somehow make a person feel that he or she is a part of their world, even for that short snippet in time when E! News was on and celebrities were being followed around. It gives people a glimpse into these luxurious lives of extravagance and beauty. The glitz and the glamour never loses its appeal to the masses – or even to the middle class individuals.
However, flicking through the Entertainment channel, TMZ and all these other Hollywood channels centered on the gossip and scandals of the rich and the famous nowadays, I’ve noticed that they have gone from informative to cruel. Journalists seem to have forgotten that these stars are people too, and they are more prone to be tempted to alcoholism, addictions and substance abuse. Instead of helping them out for the entertainment they have done onstage, they seem to prey on the weaknesses of these stars and make the smallest off-stage, real life mistakes sources of entertainment as well. It’s easy to talk about someone whose shoes you’ve never tried on – maybe they should, for a day.
